The Sea To Summit Pocket Shower is a solar shower designed with hikers and backpackers in mind. It’s very lightweight for those who would like an option to get a warm shower in while camping or backpacking.
At just 4.5 ounces, the Sea To Summit Pocket shower is a good option in the camp hygiene department. It takes up very little space. The shower holds 10 liters of water, and provides around 7 minutes of shower time on full blast. In testing/timing it, the shower length varied between 7 minutes and 7:30. With fairly consistent water pressure.
To operate, you simply fill the bag to the internal fill line, roll and close off the top like you would a dry bag, suspend the bag from a tree, and turn the nozzle to your desired pressure amount.
If you would like your shower to be warm, you have a couple of options. Because the bag is black, you can fill the bag and set it out in the sun for a few hours in order to warm the water. This works great if you are hanging around a camp for a day and have the hours available to do this. How warm the water will get depends on many environmental variables.
Another way to warm the water could be to fill it most of the way and add hot water from the fire little by little to mix with the ambient-temperature water. This at least will give you a jump start on getting it warm. There is a warning not to add boiling water though, so not too hot. If you filled it 3/4 full with water, and then topped it off with hot water, I can imagine that would be a winning combination for getting the water hot quick. I haven’t tried this though, so if you have, please let me know how it went in the comments.
In this video I give you an up close overview and review of the product, demonstrate how to use it, weigh it, and provide some general tips in using this piece of gear.
